However, when it comes to general fitness purposes, there are only 3 types: Flat weight bench, adjustable weight bench, Olympic weight bench. Obviously, flat weight benches are the most basic and lightweight among the 3 types. That’s why they’re very solid without any moving parts. Thus, they’re not likely to shake while you’re lifting heavy like low-quality Olympic or adjustable weight benches.
Besides, while the other 2 types always have a gap between the pads when they’re flat, this one doesn’t. And this annoying gap is the main reason why you feel insecure while lifting heavy. Therefore, I never choose an adjustable and Olympic bench to do the flat dumbbell bench press.
Because it is flat, you can’t do the incline or decline bench press and that is the only downside of this weight bench. But there are still a lot of exercises you can do on the bench. And if you don’t need to work incline and decline positions, a flat weight bench is totally fine.

Generally, these weight benches are great for different purposes as there are a lot of exercises you can do. With different angles and positions, you can easily target different angles of your muscles, even the hard-to-reach parts. However, as mentioned before, an adjustable bench may be not firm enough if you are lifting too heavy compared to its weight capacity. Additionally, a gap between the pads can make you feel uncomfortable, especially when you’re working the flat position.
Olympic weight benches are very useful for multiple purposes. This is because depending on the model, you can work many different muscle groups, including the triceps and legs which an adjustable bench can’t do.
Overall, if you have general fitness purposes, then go for this one. Also, if you are a beginner or you can’t afford to go to the gym, an Olympic bench with enough attachments is very beneficial.
However, one advantage of this type is that it is usually bulky and therefore, hard to move around. Besides, if it is not a high-quality bench, then the attachments are likely not to be sturdy and durable.

This is way more important than you thought. Trust me, I know how it feels when a weight bench can’t hold our body weight when we’re lifting too heavy. However, what I don’t really like about this one is that I have to level it frequently. Specifically, after I level it for a place, it will definitely wobble in another place. Actually, I’ve never had this kind of problem with other benches I’ve used but it may come down to the heavy construction.
You’re looking for the best workout bench for home which is both adjustable and sturdy? Well, if so, then this one is worth your consideration. It has 6 different angles, from 17 degree decline to 90 degree incline. I believe that 6 positions are enough for general fitness goals. Additionally, you can adjust the seat to 2 positions for working out with the incline, thus, ensuring extra comfort and support.
The bench features a stable base. Therefore, it won’t end up swinging unless you are lifting more than its maximum weight capacity which is 400 lbs. Besides, the bench also features wheels that make it much easier for you to move it around or store.
However, even though the upholstery is quite durable and easy to clean, the padding is likely to wrinkle over time. Also, with the weight capacity of 400 lbs, you can’t lift really heavy on the bench.
